An Actual USABLE Car Dock app, IG 88 Car Home! #IG_88 #Car_Home #Car_Dock #Review #Motorola #Droid

Posted by sherri @ 9:22 pm in Accessories Android Reviews.

Ever go into a store without really needing anything? Wander the aisles for a while and something catches your eye? Figure "what the heck...it's returnable"? Even better, the item is on sale? I have done this in "brick and mortar" stores more time than I can count. Returns end up being a pain because you need a receipt, have to drive to the store, waste gas, time, etc...Yesterday, I did this in the Android Market. Not only did something catch my eye, it was FREE, and ends up being an app that has me thinking: "How did I live WITHOUT this???"

The app that currently has me in awe is simply called "IG 88 Car Home". This app is a replacement for the current "Car Home" screen that pops up when your phone is put into the car dock. This app allows you to put 6 apps (of your choosing) onto the screen. LARGE, EASY TO TAP buttons! While the native "Car Home" app looks nice, I personally find the buttons that are pre-installed useless. The "Voice Search" button requires you read the screen and "tap" to confirm choices, if and when it understands your choice at all. This is not only illegal here, but dangerous as well. "Navigation" and "View Map" buttons are fine. "Contacts" and "Search" both require multiple taps to confirm, and in the 6 months I am using the Droid, both are completely unusable while driving. On the original "Car Home" screen, there is a "Home" icon, which takes you to you default home screen. This is what I have been using when docked, because the app I always want to see on my screen is "Choice Dialer", which I have written about before, and makes the phone respond to voice prompts. The problem here, as the screen shot shows, is that these buttons are small!

Along comes "Car Home", by IG 88 Apps. Problem solved. This allows up to 5 screens, which can be navigated through by swiping sideways, or by tapping the "dots" on the bottom or side of the screen. I have only used one so far, as the 6 apps I have put there are the ones that I use most while driving. 6 easy to tap, easy to see, easy to load apps! Additionally, you can change the icons for these app to any .png or .jpg file you want. I haven't had a chance to do this yet. After a minute on the screen, the phone goes into "screen saver" mode, which you can load with any widget available. I use a digital clock for mine. You can see from the "Settings" screenshot that this feature can be disabled if you would like. A simple "tap" on the screen of the phone wakes it back up, bringing you back to the "Car Home" screen. Adding/deleting and moving apps and shortcuts is as simple as "long tap".

The app can be found free on the market. Get it here.

Game Gripper Review! #Droid #GameGripper

Posted by Vazguard @ 6:39 pm in Accessories Motorola Droid.

As many Android users know, some of the highest-rated games in the Market are the “-oid” system emulators.  These apps provide a wide range of console gaming, including NES, SNES, GB, and Sega systems.  But until recently, Droid users were stuck mashing away using a keyboard not well suited for key mappings.  With a vertically-stacked key layout, creating usable controls on the Droid is difficult at best.  A new startup called Game Gripper, LLC. has recently released a product that addresses this issue.  Aptly named the Game Gripper, the accessory allows Droid users to play emulators – and any game that allows key mapping – with a traditional and enjoyable control scheme.

iLuv App Clock *UPDATED* #iPhone #iLuv #Apps @iLuv_World

Posted by ParaCAD @ 6:59 pm in Accessories Apps Misc. Reviews Updated iPhone iPod Touch iTunes.

I just recently downloaded this application, iLuv App Clock(<--iTunes Link). I really LUV it (pun intended). I use it throughout the week to make sure i'm not late to my day job. Unfortunately I still have to work 8-5, what are you gonna do?

Well lets get to the update. This app has been updated with a few new and well chosen features. One such as being able to set your alarm to your own music. I was glad to see this, as i've plenty of songs that make it much easier to wake up to and start my day.
One thing that we all LUV is free, which this app is....So go update if you have it and if not download it.

P.S. - Go check out this accessory as well, the iMM190. It would be a great addition i would think. But i've yet to order mine, but i really want one!

Hey iLuv Creative Technology go ahead and send me an iMM190. I'll watch the mail! :)

App Magnets – Put your App icons on the fridge #AppMagnets #iPhone #iPod #Gadget

Posted by rudeboy @ 9:15 pm in Accessories.

Whatever you want to do... There's an app for that. That's right. Whether you want to buy movie tickets, read the news, write a review, pay a tip, catch a taxi, or even train your dog, there's an app for that. But what if you want to hang a photo on the fridge? Or leave a note on the microwave? Or save that Chinese take-out menu in a place where you can't lose it? When it came to certain old-school tasks, the apps were coming up short. A little reverse innovation was needed. Well, good news, everyone... Now there's an app for that, too.

Introducing the App Magnets by the Jailbreak Collective! In order to bring the magic of the iPhone into the third dimension, we asked an artist to reach into the iPhone home screen and literally pluck out the apps. Then we added a little magnetism. And best of all, we mass produced them so now you too can own your very own set of 3-D App Magnets!

Features

  • Outer cardboard packaging is 9.5" x 5"
  • 18 individual epoxy magnets each measuring 7/8" x 7/8"
  • This product is in no way affiliated with Apple Inc. or the iPhone. It is simply a product made by fans for others fans.

Price: $12.99.

Get them at JailbreakToys.com.
